40+ Years of Gun Care Manufacturing: The ILANSIN Story (Since 1980)
Gun cleaning supplies are standard-component products. A .38-cal jag, a 12-gauge patch, a bottle of CLP — these follow specifications the industry settled decades ago, so what separates a good supplier from a bad one is not design flair. It is how long they have been making the same thing to the same standard, and for whom. That is why we think a supplier's history is the first thing a wholesale buyer should check — and why we are publishing ours alongside the history of the industry that shaped it.

Where ILANSIN fits in
We entered the industry in 1980, in the middle of the CLP era, making consumables as an OEM manufacturer for other brands — the parts of a cleaning kit that get used up and reordered: jags, patches, swabs, cloths, and later CLP. In 1999 we registered the ILANSIN name and began selling under our own brand from the same production line.
Nothing in that story required us to reinvent the product. A jag is a jag; the thread standard was settled long before we existed. What four decades of manufacturing buys is different, and less visible:
- Consistency you can reorder blind. A distributor who reorders the same SKU two years later receives the same brass hardness, the same patch thickness, the same CLP viscosity. Batch-to-batch drift is what kills private-label programs, and controlling it is what 40+ years on the same line teaches.
- Tolerance discipline. Standard parts only work because they fit standard firearms. Our caliber sizing follows the SAAMI-recognized dimensions the industry standardized in 1926, so a .40-cal patch fits a .40 S&W barrel and not approximately.
- OEM-grade QC at retail price. The checks we run for the brands we manufacture for are the same checks our own brand passes — there is no separate "export quality" line.
- Formulation ownership. We blend our CLP in-house, which means the answer to "can you adjust viscosity/odour/bottle size for my market" is a production question, not a negotiation with a trading company.
